I think this is a Sparrow of some sort, my bird app couldn't identify him due to his positioning.

Nice shots, especially the second one. My app identifies it as a Brown Headed Cowbird (female) although the beak is more finch-like.

That's what my app is saying that as well, and its possible but normally the cowbirds look like this around here

It's very pretty and also very brave standing amongst all those thorns.
