Just arriving...

Somehow stumbled on your forum here. Amateur photographer... kinda by
accident. I took a cheap Olympus point and shoot to a dark hall to attempt
to capture some photos of my niece's dance competition. No flash photography
allowed. I pushed the ISO and tried to get what I could with a slow shutter
speed. Nothing doing. 100 horrible photos.

So I moved to a D70. Practice, practice, practice. Fun turns to hobby...
hobby turns to obsession .

7 months after the original competition with all of the horrible photos, its time to
head out to another dance competition... $1000 wasted?. Nope. Pictures
turned out good enough that the studio teacher has invited me back to
take more pictures of her students.

Pretty cool. I am happy with that.

Here are a couple from my first experience doing it. I'll have a better seat this
weekend and I won't have to hide as much for fear of getting kicked out. I just
might have a few photos without people's heads in them.
JPEG compression really hurts these.
