Just getting started with model and portraits

I am just getting started in shooting Models and Portraits. Looking for constructive criticism on the photo below. Kind of bothered by the light in the background.

Pretty lady

Fast shutter to squelch the background, strobe for fill flash, f/9 or so aperture and bring out the lost details in hair. Remove the loose strand on the left.

Pose her different and her butt won't look flat with wrinkles above

It is probably not the light in the background, but the differential between the overexposed background and the underexposed model. IMO, you should have used a flash to illuminate the model's back. Doing so would allow you to cut the exposure of the background.

One thing that bothers me about you shooting from this angle is that she has back rolls. Shes not that big but you are giving her back rolls with this pose.

This is obviously a belly dancer, and she is showing off her costume and her moves. The photographer did not capture her best profile, nor did he light the model adequately. Most belly dancers that I have seen are not svelte, so the "rolls" are not a concern.
