Hello everyone, today I decided that it would be better for me to get the D5100 instead of continue to save up for the D7000. It was on sale with the kit lens for $756 at Best Buy today, so I decided to go for it. It is a great improvement over my 6 year old Lumix bridge camera, quite obviously.
It has some features the D7000 has, such as it's 16.2 mp sensor. I realized also that for my needs, the D5100 is perfectly fine. I don't need the 6 fps, better build, and features such as that. This camera is nice and compact, and can produce rather excellent results. Overall I'm very happy with it, and I'd highly recommend it to anybody.
Here's a sample pic taken with the 50mm 1.8 lens (not autofocus) at 1600 iso . I don't mind having to manually focus all that much, it's rather easy after practicing for a bit. This lens was originally on my N90s.
