Just picked up my first DSLR; memory card suggestions?

Just picked up a Nikon D3300 refurbed off of Ebay for 399. Very excited.

It does not come with a card.

What type of card should I be looking for and what size would you suggest I start with? (will be doing minimal to zero video).

Sandisk Extreme Pro 95 per second write speed. A little more expensive than the standard class 10 but if you ever need to fire a burst, believe me you'll appreciate the difference.

Nah, keep one as a back up.

it is very fast and you might not need it to be that fast. Anything over 30mbs will do a good job.

I always buy Samsung memory card`s they are virtually indestructible and you can get fast 90Read 80Write ones now.

I would recommend getting any 8gb Class 10 SD card.

Also, buy multiple and don't just buy one SD card with 16gb or more.
It's good to have multiple smaller sized SD cards.

So you don't keep all your eggs in one basket.

Echoing the choir here but a bunch of cards is better than one. Even if they don't fail on you in camera your dog may decide to eat a half dozen one day (yes, it happened to me)

A little off topic. B&H used to sell the Lexar 64gb 1066x CF card at $96. It's not in their website anymore. Any knows where else I can get at that price? Thanks in advance

I wouldn't spend more then $15 on a memory card. Just not necessary to spend the extra money.
You can get a 16Gig class 10 card at 30 mega bits per second transfer rate for $11 on amazon.
