Has anyone seen the subscription deal for Adobe's Creative Cloud? Lightroom and Photoshop for $9.99/mo for a year.

I'm not at all keen on this but it seemed at least like a good way to not dump full cost into it while also maintaining the current version. The cloud storage isn't a bad touch either. If I find myself thinking this was a terrible move I'll be sure to post on here before I take the jump :lmao:

$149 for LR5 and CS6 was something like $699 when they stopped selling it. That's almost 85 months worth of upgrades. Enjoy it. I'll join the wagon as soon as I get the OS upgrade done or I go to Mac.

Except that it may not be 9.99/mo next year. If it goes up to 19.99/mo (which Adobe indicates it likely will), you are suddenly at 42 months... what if it goes up more than that?

In short, yes, it has been mentioned here. Lots of discussion around it as I recall.

To me that is still pretty cost effective. It's been discussed here at length but I personally don't mind the nickel and dime in this case because you with this, when you buy it, if they come out with a new version in two weeks, you get it included. Before, it was if you bought it and then they came out with a new version, you had to pay the upgrade fee.

Understood, I know this promotion is only good for a year. Even still I do believe it's worth it. We'll see what it jumps to next year, at which point I'll be making another decision.

As others said it's still nice having that peace of mind that you'll always be up to date.

Yes they have been offering the subscription at that price for about 6 months now.

That's a good point. Before Adobe abandoned upgrade pricing because of CC, a PS *upgrade* was only $200.

So you could have bought a new version of PS every single year for less than CC is supposed to cost as of next year. Even at this heavily discounted 9.99, it reaches "no gain" at 20 months... which is less than the old refresh cycle.

And if you didn't upgrade every version. Well. Adobe didn't put out CC to save the end-user money.

Adobe will not likely be returning to the former pricing model. in addition the pricing in the former model remained unchanged for quite a few years.
The subscription model is probably here to stay so what was available before is now moot.

But the $199 upgrade was for regular Ps CSx.

Photoshop CC includes all the Ps CS 3, 4, 5, 6 Extended features and the Ps CS 3, 4, 5, 6 Extended upgrade price was $349.

Plus we get LR 5 into the bargain with the Photoshop Photography Program, and not that long ago LR was $299 retail with a $99 upgrade price.

All of Adobe's single application pricing is $19.99 a month.
If we continue getting CC and LR together as a Photoshop Photography Program for $19.99 a month we are still coming out ahead compared to other Adobe CC single application pricing.

Compared to other professional grade software even at $19.99 a month CC would still be cheap.

Agreed! We'll see how it goes... Unless they offer something totally different I'll probably stick with the subscription indefinitely
