I actually think sub adults are better looking than adults, but everyone wants to see the white head. Looks like you were pretty close!

DUMB question: How do you tell the difference between a juvenile Eagle and a hawk? I was out on Saturday and got a picture of a hawk. Then just a bit later, I saw a bald eagle. AND a hawk. Then two hawks, all in the same area. Looking at the photos, I'm pretty sure they are all hawks, but now I'm wondering...

I was about 150 ft away. These where shot with Sigma 150-500 on a D300

I'm not much of a birder but eagles are a much larger raptor then hawks.
