Keep getting blurry eyes on my pics, please help

I am using a T2i camera with 50mm and 430exii. Every time I take pictures of my son I seem to get either one eye blurry or both eyes. It's really frustrating because no matter what I do or what people tell me I can't seem to get it right. I am using "M" setting with iso400, F1.8, 1/80 just to give a few settings. Is there something im doing wrong?

Shooting wide open at f/1.8 can cause focusing troubles. The depth of field (area of in focus sharpness) is very shallow. If you are 5 feet or closer to your subject your depth of field is only going to be around 2 inches. Can be hard to nail focus like this. Try using a smaller aperture like f/5.6 and you probably won't have any issues. I can't see your pictures but try using a faster shutter speed. 1/80 is a little slow for kids...

As Megan has said, use a smaller (larger number) aperture. You should always where possible stop down two stops. This will bring it more into focus.

try not to cut off legs, arms etc. To get the eytes in focus, you need to pick a single AF point and place it on the closest eye. As said, pick a smaller aperture, 5.6 as megan suggested would be a good point to start.
