Hi all. It's difficult to find good information on these extension tubes. Can anyone recommend a good link or better still give me some first hand information on how much these differ your focus distance. I aim to use them mostly with a 35mm f2, a 50mm f1.8 and maybe an 85mm f1.8 on a crop body. Thanks in advance for any input

Depends on the size you get. I use a 12mm and it lets me get real close but with a 12mm you have to get close to be able to achieve focus. Here's a dragonfly i took using it on a 350D and an 18-55mm lens. Of course using this lens i also have zoom. This is not with a kenko tube though but there is no way i would be able to focus like this without the tube...

That's close alright, if its not kenko is it canons own brand macro tube?

Yes it's canon's brand and it has electrical contacts. You might want to get the set of kenko tubes and not just the 12mm size...

Thanks for the info. That photo looks great. You may just have swung my decision to buy.
