This is one area of the Lumix that outshines other bodies - the 600mm FF (435mm dSLR) equiv built-in zoom means that I can be sitting quietly with a cuppa or book, and pick the camera easily when something happens close by. It's also light enough to carry easily when I am off bushwalking
