I do not consider myself good enough to do much black and white yet, but yesterday my wife and I took her niece, Kristal shopping. Kristal is in the last days of her pregnancy and felt wornout and tired in the hot Texas sun. She said she looked yucky. I took this picture to show her she is as beautiful as ever.

this won't do it.
Don't shoot in direct light at 1 in the afternoon; the background is completely burnt out and her skin has no texture at all. You can see the burnt out patches on her forehead and cheeks
It is missing most of the middle tones (see histogram)
it's OOF (it looks like her ear-ring might be in focus)
She has some heft under her chin, reshoot this with her face races a bit ans that will trim out her chin.

Sit her down in the open shade later in the day, don't shoot at high iso, get some decent skin tones and that will make a good conversion.
