Lake Sunrise/Sunset shoot

I am going camping at the lake this weekend with my family and I am going to get some shots of the sunset and sunrise. I want to come back with better shots then the last time does anyone have any advice for me?

What was it about the last time you wanted to improve upon?

You will want to use a tripod, and if you if you want the sun in the image frame you'll want a selection of graduated neutral density filters.

If you don't want the sun in the image frame but want to make some landscape shots, you may want a good CPL filter.

You could have been working out these details at home after the last attempt, rather than waiting till the day before you will be heading to the lake again for advice you won't have the opportunity to test well in advance.
