It was super hot and I dragged two fighting kids through the woods today (hoping that getting them out of the house and in the woods would slow down the sparring - if that's your plan, bring TWO bags of bird seed for the chickadees, not one - just some advice for other parents). However, we were rewarded at the Grindstone Marsh with all the nearly-grown critter youngsters out and about.

Good for you taking the kids on an adventure!
i saw an adult (parent?) with a 9-10 yr old today and they were sitting in a blanket overlooking Cape Cod Canal waterway on a beautiful day. The odd thing to me was...they were sitting with their backs to each other, and kid looked like he was playing a game on a device and she was texting!!
I was thinking ..'how sad that was their time together?'
kudos to you even if you needed 2 bags of seed :)

Thanks Nancy - my kids are used to me hauling them out for woodland adventures. They both love hiking and feeding the birds and such. That's what happens 1 - when you're crazy active small people that will destroy the house if left indoors on a nice day and 2 - your mom likes nature photography and can't leave you to your own devices. Ha! They're usually very enthusiastic, but it really was ridiculously hot today. I had to backpack the little one back up the ravine, she was just DONE.

I figure I'll set a good example and they'll always love coming back to nature.
