I saw a male and female Lawrence's Goldfinch in my backyard a few evenings ago and never saw them again....until last evening. This time the females were missing and two males came by at dusk. Why is it that I wait all afternoon, when the light is better, but only to wait until they show up when the light is bad? Oh well, that's what ISO 1600 is for, right?

I really like that 1st one, Mike. He stands out in nice contrast to the blurred background.

I think there's a little too much headroom, though. It steals focus from your subject. My $.02.

the first photo has a great angle and focus to it and the second i love the way the reflection of the bird shows on the pristine water great shots!
