Leica is generally thought of as a fairly pure still camera maker. Aside from its lower price point, their newest SL2-S appears to be a balanced stills/video body with video specs competitive with the other major "standard level (24 mp sensor)" full-frame bodies, with UHD up to 60 fps internal, and RAW (presumably externally recorded).

It begins selling today at authorized Leica dealers for $4,895 US (I assume for the body only).

Sorry but there just won't be any spare room under ol' Tannenbaum once the Lamborghini Aventador gets parked.

Seriously, though, just a Panasonic S1 with a Leica make-over? Sucker bait for luxury brand slaves...

I've read Panasonic does the electronics for Leica but Leica uses there own hand built lenses. Panasonic cameras are licensed to use Leica lens designs but are not made by Leica and may even have some plastic elements.

Fuji has/had the same OEM supplier relationship with Hasselblad. Again, brand cachet matters more than meaningful performance improvement for some consumers.
