Hi, I purchased a D300 from a friend of mine along with a Sigma 18-200 lens, it's been great indoors or outside if I have some shade around. I noticed when trying to take pictures of a lake and landscape in general I'm getting lens flare and sunspots. I had a D90 for 3 years before this with the 18-105 kit lens and I maybe had one or two pictures with this problem, so that's why I'm concerned and wondering if there is a problem with the camera or lens. That is happening with my UV filter and lens hood on. Any ideas?

Thanks

I have a Sigma 18-125 for my Canon crop-body. It gives green flare like a bastid whenever it's shot toward the sun. One of the biggest problems in my opinion is that inside the lens, one of the large, moving element groups, appears to have totally un-flocked, un-checked edges to an element group, and it appears as though light is free to bounce around due to gthe edges not being flocked, or baffled, or otherwise protected against light scattering about halfway back inside the lens. It flares like a bastid, as I said before.

Along with the Tokina 28-80mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro, I call the Siggy 18-125 DC "Der Flaremeister". Seriously. I do.

Thanks for the info, looks like I need to save for a better walk around lens, any suggestions for this?
