I have a Canon Rebel XSI and was wondering if a Tamron sp af70-200mm f/2.8 would work on it. ?? I also have a Nikon D50. Would that lens work on either of the two cameras?

Ooh really. I'll have to check into that website. Thanks so Much for the Help.

Since the rebel is a small sensor camera you have to see if that lens is compatible with small sensor cameras, but that lens is compatible with that camera
because is says its a EF lens which means it fits both a small sensor and a full frame (big sensor) camera, but if the lens is a EF-S type it
will only fit on a small sensor camera, so for any small sensor camera any type of lens will go, ether if its a EF or EF-S , but a high recommendation would be to stick to the same lens company as your camera, just so it would be easy to work with.

In theory, a Rebel can use any lens made for Canon EOS. The pro bodies that do not have an APS-C size sensor can't use any lens designed for APS-C (e.g. You can't use an "EF-S" lens, but you can use any "EF" lens (as well. The specialty lenses... MP-E and TS-E)Here's the catch: Canon (and Nikon is the same) do not offer assistance to 3rd party lens makers. Tamron, Tokina, Sigma, etc all have to revse engineer the interface. They usually test the camera that are out when the lens was originally designed, but sometimes a new body is released and they find the lens doesn't work with it. Also... Tamron makes lenses to work with Canon, Nikon, and others. So you'd need to know which version of the lens you have. A lens designed for a Canon will not work on a Nikon.

Canon and Nikon used different lens mount systems. Tamron makes lenses for both Canon and Nikon.

So you need to find out which lens mount is on the Tamron lens. If it's the Canon EF (auto focus) mount, then it will work on any Canon EOS camera (including the Rebel XSi). If it has the Nikon mount, then it should work on any Nikon DSLR (including the D50).

So the lens may work on one camera, but not both.

Of course, it may also have a Pentax or Sony/Minolta mount, in which case it won't work wither either the Canon or the Nikon.
