I still say you should go with the 70-300mm, almost the same price and it will get you closer :)

Id love to know were you shop! Care to share? Id love to get a 70-300mm for about the same price as a 55-200mm.

You should look at getting a 100-400mm with image stabilization.

E-bay hun :) Thats where I bought most of my lenses.

Order from B&H or adorama. ebay can be iffy if you dont knot what you are doin

with the 55-200mm the distance will look more than half the distance closer.
if thats your concern then thats the anwer.

So you mean it will look even closer than half the distance of what the 15-55 would take, sorry I just wanted to make sure Im understanding you correctly,I was able to find one picture taken of a building that was about a mile away at 55mm and at 200mm and it really looked closer than I thought it would look. The 55 looked like a mile and the 200 looked like a block away. Thanks timethief!

Not sure if this help you but here are a couple crappy snapshots I took when I first bought my camera just to see the difference. These were taken from the top of the St. Louis Arch.

1. Taken with the 18-55 at about 35mm

2. Taken with the 55-200 all the way zoomed in at 200mm
