What I find troubling is that they had one of the same lenses for sale at $99,000 not too long ago, and now they are asking $120,000 for the same product. There are only a handful of these lenses that have been made, but why such a big percentage increase in the price?

I think the only people that might even consider this purchase would likely not bat an eye at an extra 21 grand. I assume that's what the guys over at B&H are probably thinking anyways.

I dunno. A 20% price jump is still outrageous. Then again, I assume this is a used lens. Prices fluctuate in the used-market. I've seen used 40D's, for instance, from the mid $400's to over $600.

BTW, they're throwing in a FREE lens cover .... might be enough to make me buy it ....

The price jump is somewhat similar to the jumps in Canon's other lenses lately. I bought my 70-200mm f/2.8L IS for $1700 (last summer). My 24-70mm f/2.8L for $1200 (this past May 2009). Now they're on B&H for $1950 and $1340, respectively.

Yeh... BH used department's listing of the 1200mm comes up once in a while ever since it first appeared a years ago. The Canon 1200mm itself comes up even before the used one appeared at BH.

$ is not as strong as it was the year prior and the year prior... Leica folks are seeing similar increases because of the $ USD pitched against the Euro.


Isn't about time someone posted a link to the "other" Canon monster lens (the one on rails in FD mount)?
