Before buying a DSLR, I had the predecessor to the H5, the Mavica cd500. It was a nice camera and took a decent image. Like you, I wanted to get some add on lenses, and found several on ebay like a 2x telephoto (given it only had 3x optical) and a 'wide' angle .45. Both were pretty much junk, and for the quality it just wasn't worth the price. I would say skip it, but that's just my opinion. Sony's come with a nice lens, a carl zeiss, which is a decent piece of glass. Anything you put in front of it will degrade the quality, and most of these adapter lenses are poor quality.
