Lens questions?

I have a Canon Rebel XSi with a kit lens. I'm interested in getting a all around lens like the Sigma 18-250 or the Tamaron 18-270. Does anyone have either of these lens and can you tell me the pros and cons of each lens? Any info would be much appreciated. I like to take landscape, wildlife, and portraits.

The pro is that it's convenient, the con is that to create a lens like that, at an affordable price, they had to sacrifice a lot on the image quality.
