Lense recommendations for Pentax K10D - I can only afford one at this time!

Can someone recommend one all around lense for a Pentax K10D. Unless someone changes my mind I intend to purchase this camera sometime in the near future. It looks like I will have $400-$500 for the lense. I'm new to photography so if you ask me what I plan on shooting I can only tell you that I don't really have anything specific in mind. I will be taking pictures of the kids, taking pictures while hiking/outdoors, etc.

First, I would get the camera with the kit lens, 18-55mm, since the price difference between that and a body-only is ridiculously low. If you do that, I'd consider the 50-200mm. It's inexpensive, $230 at B&H, and a rather good lens.
