i am referring to the composition and overall quality of the image

i mean i can barely even see the subject

maybe if you had a tighter framing, and i could actually see what it was, it wouldn't be a bad picture

even then it looks like it was taken with a cheap point and shoot, and isn't very high quality

Catching a rare spinner dolphin in full breach is a "snap shot?"

What makes it a snap shot is the lack of a pleasing composition. The subject is the "dolphin", so the viewer needs to "see" the dolphin. Since a reshoot obviously won't work here, try zooming in closer using photoshop and crop out everything but the dolphin and say a bit of the rock in the back ground. It might help to make this a bit better.
