I was talking with a barber while he cut my hair (seventy-five years in the trade, I went into his barbershop curious as it was so vintage and old fashioned). He related to me a conversation he'd had with a local gamekeeper at the age of thirteen or so, and the gamekeeper was telling him some local lore from his own youth. Two conversations across 100 years or more.
