Lifespan of a modern lense

What do you think is the lifespan of a modern lense with its AF, motor and anti vibration system?

Ive just sold a Canon 300f2.8L made in 1995
If it had broken down 7 years ago it would have been a paper weight, every time they change the design you have got to hope they have plenty of af motors left, my AF will not break down unless I get very bad arthritis

I have read that whiskering mostly affects the equipment than is on most of the time, and even then it takes about 10 years to grow. Lenses are being electrically charged for a very short periods of time, so you can multiply 10 years by 5 at least. Or maybe by 24. Methinks.

I think if you stick with the nikkor or canon you will probably fair better far as lasting over a decade. NOt so sure on the tonkins and tamrons people always seem to assume they have as good shoot quality but lower actual build quality.

Biggest problem is parts if your lens has a problem, my friend has some of the first Leica lenses and they are perfect but there is no electronics to go wrong

I've got lenses that are significantly in excess of ten years (all 'D' glass). The 'G' glass is all rated at 10 years by Nikon.
