Light body for softbox?

I recently got a softbox with a universal adapter and i need to know what kind of light body i need for it. i have some photo floods but i dont think these will work. where can i find a cheap light body? and what type?

They would work with the photo floods but they may burst out in flames if the softbox isn't heat resistant.

Any strobe (even a flash) would work through the softbox. I use a vivitar 285 with a softbox.

i have a a "mini-mole", could i use that with a soft box? what im kinda trying to figure out is, is there a certain wattage or amount of light needed for the box to work?

I use a slave trigger instead of a cord.
