Thanks so much for the advice! I've lived here for 3 years and have never taken any pictures of the lights! LOL I like the edits a lot better with the room on top, I'll look at my originals again and see if I have room to edit for more space.
I didn't have a tripod with me, I would have loved to but I was really just out for a drive with Hubby...and then started the snow...made him pull over and snap. I was playing around with the settings but... I honestly can't remember what the ones I ended up editing were shot in.

I definitely plan on heading back down to the park with a tripod is tow....and possibly a better understanding of night/christmas light shots. I'll see what I can do in the weeks to come and post some of the updates.

I'm taking a trip up north to go ice fishing next week....Kind of excited what kind of pictures I can get there!

I'm glad everyone saw how magical that night was too.

P.S. A little story. So lately I've been sick and my Hubby convinced me to go out with him and the dogs earlier that day. It was raining and he kept saying to me "Just wait, it will turn into snow and we will have our "winter Wonderland"...Low and behold...later on that night...it started to snow..big flakes, sticky to every thing! (would love to see what some local photographers got out of that snow too) So after I grabbed a few photos...I go back in the Truck "Thanks, for finally coming through on that Winter Wonderland you promised" Guys...the snow was beautiful that night.

The xMas tree one looks good, just needs a little straightening.

The lighthouse one is top heavy. The lighthouse is the subject, the ducks are merely supporting players in the scene. Visual balance...there is more stuff, and more significant stuff crammed into the top two thirds of the image, then you have duck shapes with no detail in a sparse empty field in the bottom third. This doesn't create a nice "base" for the rest of the image.

Not bad. They strike me more as snapshots than posed and well thought out photo's. Still, the exposures are good, and the photo's convey the scene well--nicely done.
