i found this light meter on ebay

since my the one in my spotmatic i broken ive been guessing the exposure, will this work on my spotmatic or is it only for the s3?

I just checked my collection... That meter (I have one) will ~not~ engage the spotmatics shutter selector.

I would recommend getting something more up to date for better accuracy. Two meters I recommend:

You'll need the cold shoe attachment for your spotmatic

I agree. I wouldn't worry about the meter interfacing with the camera. Any old hand held meter will do just fine as long as it is consistent in its readings.
