Light painting for begginers

Hi guys, I'm a beginner photographer and I love light painting. So far I only have a couple of light tubes that I made myself and some LED lights that I bought on the internet. Do you know some guides or tips for me to improve my light paintings? I've seen some amazing pictures from other artist and I really want to learn how to make something like that.
