Went out lastnight and tried my hand at light painting.
Shot with a 60D and my 70-200 (i know BAD lens for automobile pictures)
No matter how many times i popped the flash near the real wheel it just wouldnt come out!

30 sec exposure
ISO 100
F 20

This is a good start. Aside form the initial exposure, there are a couple post processing tweaks I would take care of. The edges seem a little soft and I would want nice crisp, hard edges for a machine. The second is the yellow cast that kills the shot for me. Here is a tweaked image so you can see what I am talking about. I also cloned out the city lights as I found those distracting.

Dang that helped alot, can you explain in further detail what touches you made?

I am not sure how well you know PS, but the tweaks were:- correct for yellow cast by adjusting the saturation and lightness of yellow tones. I used "Hue and saturation" adjustment dialogue for this one.-selectively sharpened the car by duplicating the layer, sharpened the car and then masked out everything but the car- cloned out the lights in the background- deepened the blacks by multiplying in a copy of the layer and then adjusted it down to about 70%That's all I can remember doing. Glad you like the result.
