well after I leave the Anchorage bowl it is not noticeable until you look back in the direct of the city.

Cool shots, Gero! :D This is a really good capture of light pollution. Ha, I remember driving away from Las Vegas and finally being under a black sky with awesome stars - turning back to look at the glowing city - this image reminds me of that night.

Great work!
 
I'm surrounded by decent sized cities on pretty much every side. I envy your LACK of light pollution :wink:

By the way, that first shot is incredible. The mountain looks like it was created with a computer, not with a picture. Very cool effect.

bluebora20v, most of those are stars. It was a clear night mostly with no moon at during that time, and the stars were just everywhere.

santino, It was a 30 sec exposure at f3.6 ISO 1600. I am trying to find a good tut for long digital exposures. Still looking.

Congrats to you terri, I couldn't remember anything when I left Vegas.
