Light room

In a few weeks I will get light room but a little confused as to the two light room downloads. One is where you pay 9. 99 not sure if it's monthly and the other one is 149 and it's yours. What's the difference ?

$9.99 is a monthly subscription. With it you also get Photoshop. $149.00 is the light room download and is installed on your computer and will be good indefinitely. The subscription works as long as you have the subscription, but you get every update for free.

What gryphonslair said, plus: the standalone version for $149.00 is not regularely updated at all (apart from the lens database and bugs). Because of that there are some functions that are not available, probably until they announce Lightroom 7. For example blacks and whites in the local adjustments, and the dehaze filter.

I have the monthly subscription. You get Lightroom, Photoshop, Bridge, and ACR in the package, as well as Adobe Cloud, for as long as you pay the monthly subscription. Stop paying and you lose access. There's no guarantee that they won't come in and Jack the price up, but for now it works for me.

FWIW.
The subscription version is also installed right there on your computer.
The current subscription version of Lightroom is called Lightroom CC 2015.
Note too it's all one word - Lightroom.

ACR or Adobe Camera Raw & Bridge are plug-in's included with Photoshop CC 2017.
