What's new

Lighting studio kits

I bought a Steve Kaeser kit a couple of years ago, just like this, except with the 180w/s light. Realizing it's not the top of the line stuff, I have not really had any complaints about it.

No.
The Kaeser sets I have seen many people buy to be extremely upset when they realize that they are disposable. Unless you want to take them apart and solder in new bulbs, they are shot when the blubs blow. AND for that price? you can get a GOOD 2 light set that is more light.
This set is far better lights, however there are no backdrops and stand... FP320MPWK Flashpoint 320M Portrait Wedding Monolight Kit, with Two 320 Monolights,9.5' Stands,Umbrellas, Snoot and Carrying Case Same pricing.
You'd still need a backdrop stand, but your lights would be FAR better quality than those in the Kaeser crap.

The first kit you list is constant light. To equal the same amount of light as a weak strobe you would need about 15 of those 30W bulbs. In short, you'll need more light indoors with them.

I have to agree with MLeeK...the two-light Flashpoint set above for $369 represents a good value on lights with user-changeable flashtubes.
