Hey all,

Well, I think it's time to upgrade and get some lighting. I was just planning on getting some cheapie strobes for now, or Alien Bees if I can afford them, but HOW can/will they interact with my D50. I am very lost when it comes to these items communicating with each other, so please let me know EXACTLY what I need.

Thanks for the help!

Ryan

Typically, you connect the camera to one of the lights via a PC cord, then the other lights are triggered via their built in optical trigger.

I don't think your camera has a PC connection port, so you would need something like THIS...a PC to hot shoe connector.

What I use, is a cheap radio slave, like THIS. The sender goes on the hot shoe and the receiver plugs into one of the lights....no cords to trip over.

Well I already own an SB-800, so what else do I need to get a decent setup?

Oh I dont think the SB800 can be the "masteR" on a D50, so what do I DO?

When I bought my Alien Bees, I ordered the wireless triggers with it, It fits in the hot shoe and works great.
