Lightning Photos, Help needed with editing

I caught a few lightning shots while on vacation and would like to get help editing them. If you experts want to give me some pointers that would be great! Where would you crop, color changes, ect? I want to learn so please explain what you would do and I will give it a go! I have lightroom 3, I have been messing with these for a couple hours now and just cant get them where I like. I cropped the first to just above the wooden railing, then cropped the left portion out so the bolt was just off the left edge. These are jpegs straight from the camera.
