Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
so i have a file that i have already edited, i want to send the unedited file to a friend so we can compare photos since we were both photographing the same thing. but all i can seem to export is the edited file.

any way to do that with out removing all the changes i have made to the photo graph

Lightroom provides several ways to undo, or reset, adjustments you make to photos as you’re working in the Develop module.

Save a snapshot or preset of your settings before undoing them so that you don’t completely lose the settings.
To undo adjustments in the Develop module, do any of the following:

  • Click the Reset button to revert back to the Lightroom default settings.
  • Click the General - Zeroed preset in the Presets panel to remove all settings completely.
  • Select an earlier version in the History panel or Snapshots panel that occurred before you applied the settings.
  • Double-click individual slider controls to reset the sliders to zero.
  • Choose Undo from the Edit menu. Lightroom tracks each setting you make. You can undo all of them by choosing Undo multiple times.

Another and simpler way to do it would be to just send a copy of your original image file. Lightroom performs all its adjustments in a non-destructive manner and saves them in a sidecar file. It does not alter the original image file.

thanks guys, i mainly use picasa for my main photo viewing program and it wont read the raw files from my D5300, they call come out purple for some reason so i was thinking i could not view the regular file, after reading this i went to the folder that the pics are in and i found the original file there. not sure why i did not think of that in the first place lol..

I just click reset and then export and then undo the action after I export it.

that sounds like a good option, thanks.. just got light room a few days ago so i am still figuring a few things out.

Or you can create a virtual copy and just reset everything on that, so you can keep two files of the same exact thing.

I do this sometimes when I want to have a colored version and a BW.

nice, ill have to check out the virtual copy option.. thank you.
