Nice shot. It's different and I like different. I like the contrast between the hard, pebbly background and the delicateness of the flower and it's soft colors. Good job.

Nice, I don't know which editing program you are using, but the first step is to create a duplicate layer, then select the whole spot at the bottom right and then click "reduce color". The selected spot is now tinted black and white, but most likely too gray and too light, so using "curves" slider you will be able to darken this part as needed. All what remains now is to edit the flower head at the bottom (which of course has also become black and white in this duplicate layer you made!) with the "eraser" tool, so that the correct color from the underlying original becomes visible again. Attach the 2 layers together, you're done! Just a very quick edit.

Thanks! I’m really feeing limited now with my lack of knowledge. I guess this is the time to learn to use an editing program more powerful than iPhoto!
