The light's kind of flat, and the shallow DoF is a bit too much.
Shallow DoF is powerful, it emphasizes what we're supposed to look at, and de-emphasizes what we're not supposed to look at. In this case, you seem to have picked out the back edge of the ring as the "point of interest" but I'm not buying it as such. It feels like you wanted a shallow DoF look, and kind of picked somewhere vaguely interesting to stick the focus, more or less at random. Pick something that's actually standout as a point of interest:
- the entire foreground ring
- an specific kink in the chain
- the curve of the chain
and get the whole thing interestingly sharp.
The fact that you have the focus so far forward in the frame is already uncomfortable for the viewer, we're not used to it. If you're going to do that, you should have a reason for it which is obvious to the viewer, make us believe that you wanted THAT stuff in focus, because it's AWESOME and you wanted everything else soft, because it's NOT AWESOME.
Make any sense?
