HOLY PURPLE BATMAN!

I like 2&3 but the saturation on the purple looks REALLY extreme. Also on number two I find the stuff on the left a bit distracting.

Why do you say that pascal? I'm just curious. These pictures are of my daughter and because she's my daughter I find the majority of pictures of her adorable. I would just like to know why you say these are unatural. These are pretty close to the original (the sweater and hat are really that vibrant) and she wasn't posing. Interesting how everyone's taste varies, these are a few of my favorites since the lighting outside was great that day and the pictures were really high contrast.

They are just reasonably exposed family shots - except for #1
there doesn't seem to be much about them that would elevate them to be especially liked or valued by others.
There isn't a pose, or an interesting environment.

#1 underexposed and the center of focus is just ahead of her left eye so that eye and her hair are in focus but her right eye is not.
#2 has an off smirk that makes her mouth a little funny and she isn't connecting with the camera.
#3 is framed badly with space on the sides and clipped on top - for no artistic reason - and why would others care about the inside of her mouth?

Interesting views here. I actually like #1 the best because to me her expression seems very natural. I like the backlight highlighting her curls. But yes, it is sadly way underexposed. You have some definite color issues going on here and 2&3 are especially bright. #3 would be a delete for me. #2 is cute but her expression looks a little forced,, but still cute. Would have been way better without the stroller behind.

Yes the poster wants critique; something they can learn from. Not someone to be an a** hole to them just because they are new and post a photo a kid.

In that same thread, it was made clear that if you think someone is being rude or obnoxious, don't escalate it, leave it to the mods.

Woah, woah you guys! Simmer down lol. I've got my big girl panties on today, I can handle it.
I value everyone's opinion and I came here looking for help. I know my pictures aren't anything spectacular but I'm looking to make them better. Pascals response bothered me, but not because he doesn't like them. I would have liked a little more explanation that's all. Thank you to everyone's comments. I don't notice these things until someone points them out. These are pictures of my daughter so I love them regardless. As for the picture with her mouth open, well if you knew my daughter you'd get it. She's a crazy one. She was driving around in her car being nuts that day. Of course no one else knows the story because I took close ups or (halfassed) cropped the car out.

I like how honest you are the_traveller. I don't want sugar coating if my pictures suck, I want to be able to improve. I hope to one day make a partial income (have something to do when my kids are school) and I can't do that if I don't figure this out.

Paige thank you for your feedback. I have to work on my exposure. I get how it works but still have troubles applying it.

Glad to hear that you are wearing panties today. (that erases that distraction)

I think the most important thing any budding photographer needs to learn is to be as objective as possible about their own work.
If its for someone else, no one else will have those emotional ties to the subject and all they will care about is the picture.

The backstory doesn't count.

We all care a lot about helping others to be as good as they can be about a craft that we all love.
Getting objective about each picture will help a lot.
