sharpness is an issue here.. or is it a crop of a much larger image?

Also contrast and colours are a bit weak (overexposed), but that could be dealt with in post processing

Anyway, he REALLY looks angry

Quite the glare it's giving you in the first pic! And it sure picked a tiny place to which to cling. Do you know what kind of owl it is?

I agree with Alex that a bump in contrast might give the picture more oomph.
