Lizard - now you see me, now you don't!

Saw this green crested lizard (with an ant on it) on a low branch. I got too close and it jumped off onto the leaf litter.



I walked away and came back moments later, and saw this!



Baby changeable lizard sleeping on a plant at night. Missed a slice in the stack.

Beautiful images, Kurt! From your comments, I have to ask the question - are all of these stacked? and if so, how many images does it take for you to build a suitable "stack"?

What does it mean when you say "stacked?"

When doing macros, the depth-of-field is usually very limited, and to get around that, photographers take a series of photos at slightly different focus points, which are then merged in software to give a photo with a much deeper DOF than you could do with only a single shot. That series of shots is the "stack". It only works if the subject doesn't move during the series. A bit like HDR for exposure, but for focus.
