locked photos from d40

hey guys , i bought a d40 , love it , anyway i took most of the pics in raw format , but when i upload them they show up as nero encrypted file , any advice on this ? thank you in advance

The D40 doesn't come with Capture NX, it comes with PictureProject, or at least mine did a few months ago.

You're better off downloading ViewNX from Nikon's web site, it's free.
