My avatar is from a shot of one of those Trek baldies when there was a spot of sunshine hitting it in the shade one afternoon leaving the background almost dark.

The golden is amazing. Was he just settling in or just getting ready to launch?

The eagles here are all injured so could not be rehabbed and returned to the wild, so they are on permanent exhibit and used for education when school groups come through. Each set are in their own exhibit, which surprisingly has very little containment to keep them in there with the occasional wild bird landing in there until it sees what it's up against. For photos it's a great opportunity as you have no glass or wires between you and the birds (as it is at Northwest Trek with many of their other exhibits including the grizzly www.nwtrek.org )

That golden has such a piercing stare. One of my images of the dame bird/exhibit from a few years ago.
