Okay, I'm wondering what the disadvantages to photofloods for portraits would be? I realize they would produce more heat then strobes but as far as the picture its self goes. They seem to be a good amount cheaper so I'm wondering what the cons are?
 
They're not as bright most of the time. Unless you invest in some beefy ones.
 
i was looking at a kit that was rated at 1500watts (three reflectors with 500 watt bulbs each) but i'd imagine it wouldn't be difficult to up the bulbs?

You do have to keep in mind that you can't just stick any bulb into any socket. This is not Red Green..lol
 
yea i know they have to be photo floods. But i'm saying would 1500watts not be enough for basic portraits?
