Work and life have conspired for the last month to keep me and a camera apart. I was all excited at silly oclock this morning getting ready to go and get some sunrise pics and.........

Total bust. You have to remember that a cloudy sky is a very rare event in this part of the world.

Please feel free to pour sympathy in my direction as it will be weeks before I get another oportunity.

Booo Hoooo pooor me

I thought that was the natural colour of the sky ;)

I sympathise. I had intended to take my daughter out fishing tomorrow (we've not been out in ages) after having a full week of blue skies and sunshine. Looked at the weather forecast last night and it's gale force winds where I am tomorrow. The best laid plans.....

Yeah, the unexpected cloud deck screws up the sunrise, but the water/sky layering is pretty neat. Peter Lik would be all over that.

Thanks for all the replies.

This is what I was looking for:

Ah well next time...........

Who is Peter Lik??

When the world hands you a lemon, make lemonade.

Dull, leaden skies? NP! Dry your eyes and wring out your handkerchief.

Look about for something suggesting a somber mood that you can put in silhouette against them or, alternately, something you can light up in startling foreground flash.

A sunrise is like a really good burger. When you want one nothing else will do.

Yeah, I can sympathize. It's been a beautiful "Spring is finally here" week all this week, lows in the mid-50s, highs in the mid-70s, nearly 80 a couple of days. AND I'm finally done with the contract job that's been taking all my time after my regular full-time job, so tomorrow is ALL MINE to do what I want, maybe go take some bird pictures for the first time in forever.
Not so much. By tomorrow morning, the temperature will be below freezing again, and the high will still be lower than what our LOWS have been lately. About a 30-degree temperature swing.
I bet Monday will be beautiful again.

FWIW, It's snowing here.
I'd rather have overcast and warm than this junk.

Love the bird in the shot too .. just gives it that little bit more !!

No sympathy from me. I live in So Cal and we have glorious sunsets :D :D :D

Qatar has glorious sunset / sunrise too. Just not on the one day I have to take pictures of them.
