Lost all my photos

I agree with the others--should be recoverable unless you kept copying stuff from your PC. Even then, it's very possibly recoverable. I've recovered files from "dead" external drives, "bad" sd cards, and even one laptop drive that I...uh..kinda sorta RAN OVER with my car. :lmao:

Why on earth would you have an entire decades' worth of photos on ONE computer though? It's already been said, but it bears repeating--Backup, backup, backup!!

Just don't 'backup'........... over your laptop.....................:er:

My external drive (archives including photos) was unreadable - could not get it to mount on either the Macbook or Windows PC. I found recovery software worked just fine, though it took several hours to work through the drive. I opted for Linux (bootable USB drive) and R-Studio.

My daughter lost all her photos once, a year or two ago. Recuva found and restored them all. Several months ago I used it to recover her lost Italy trip, which I wrote about in another thread on the forum here: http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/...e-way-recover-deleted-images.html#post2846449

I use redundant hard drives and a program called Allway Sync Pro for my backup needs. That's worked well for me for the past several years, replacing CDs and DVDs, which I found to be too unreliable. I now also use CrashPlan for online backup as well.
