Thanks! Here you go, lightened it up a bit! I understand how you feel and it was a choice between darker, deeper, richer sky colors along with a dark beach or lighter beach with not quite as nice a sky (or so I thought) so I decided the sky was more important than a plain beach. My personal preference. You must understand I'm not trying for perfect light balance or trying to lighten things up so everyone can see everything easily, I'm trying for natural and it was dark out. It's why the dark foregrounds.

Thanks for the offer but it was dark out and I wanted my pictures to show that. I previewed them lightened up but didn't like them as well because that's not how it looked at the time I took the pics.

Many thanks for your reply, I do hope you don't mind a further explanation I should have said it in my first post, my apologies. What I would have done is to make the bottom and the left side even darker, the area by the waters edge a little lighter, and straightened out the horizon. The dark to lighter tones would have led the eye towards the water more easily and I would have a go at making the couple walking into the picture a little clearer I feel that they are a vital part of the image.

totally understand about personal preference and artistic style. if that's what you like then stick to your guns and love your work. but you can have your cake and eat it too. with a mask you can keep your skies dark and colorful and lighten up your foregrounds just a tad.

in the first edit i mistook the people on the beach as a plant and wasn't too sure what the sandals were. the story is easier to see in the second edit.
