I'm looking into buying a street & field belt set up and was wondering if the material for the len's pouches are safe enough to put a lens in it without lens caps? I want to be able to change lenses very quickly.

I think that would be fine...as long as you keep the bag clean and free of dirt, sand and debris.

I've found that Lowepro does a very good job of designing their bags, with care that the bag does not damage the cameras. For example, any inside zipper pockets, will probably have a little pads over the spot where the zipper handle sits, just so it does not scratch the camera.

The inside of the bag is probably nylon, which shouldn't cause any problems (as long as it's clean).
