LR not opening/ Windows

No, that (1) is ignored.
I typically add a few letters to the very beginning so the name and suffix are intact but it doesn't match the catalog name.
as in OLDLightroom 4 Catalog.lrcat.lock

the path to the prefs file is Preferences

C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences\Lightroom 5 Preferences.agprefs

I suggest you delete the prefs file and rename those two files before you try opening LR again.
It may be a corrupted prefs file that is partially opening the catalog and leaving the lock conflict files.

Thanks for the help Lew!! It worked!!

What I did:
*unhide hidden folders (this was the step that I kept missing. the preference file was hidden!!)
delete preference files
closed application via task manager
deleted locked and renamed the other folders (conflicted folders)
restart and relaunch, load catalog (I had to load catalog with the renamed (colflict) folder for it to work).
And LR is back!! Yay, what a relief. Thank you <3
