Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I hadn't used Picasa for a few years so have recently reinstalled it on my latest Windows 11 desktop PC.

My main use for it previously was for facial recognition of family and friend, and this was ther reason to install it this time (yesterday).

I directed it to my Pictures folder on my D drive and ticked facial recognition. However after 4 hours yesterday and another 4 today it hasn't come up with any67 people.

Can anyone advise?

I have Lightroom and I believe this does Facial Recognition but I wasn't able to find a way for it to search my entire hard drive. (22,000 photos / 160 GB).

Can LR do this or how do I get Picasa to do it - or is there better (free) software.

Is Picasa still available...i use to use this and loved it...

Ya it is. I lost track of it for awhile but have it back now. I can't figure out photoshop and the others like it.

I can help you with almost anything photoshop. 24 years using it.

I wonder, what does face recognition do? Help you sort your photography albums.

I appreciate your offer but I have a brother in Detroit, Mich that is supposed to be the go to guy in Detroit, he couldn't help. Then another guy that worked it really well landed in a town 8 mi from here and he tried to help me and I just couldn't get it. But thank you very much for your offer.

I'm not any of those guys.

When you open a picture in photoshop it shows it as a layer on the far right. Next to your large picture on the left. All the simple stuff is done here.

It helps if you've ever worked in a darkroom with black and white photography.

You can duplicate the first layer. by pressing the keyboard combination: control J. (control key and the J key at the same time).
Now you have copy of the layer you started with on top.

Above where it says layer. There is a word that says: normal.
Then to the right of that it says: Opacity
Then below that it says: Fill

there is an arrow key next to the word: Normal. You click this and you get a pop out window or a drop down window with lots of options. Each options which change the look of your image. You have to experiment with it yourself.

This is the fundimentals of photoshop. You don't need to know more then that.

All programs in windows share the same functions.

Like. File. Edit. Menu. blah blah. There is always a tool bar on the top.

You can use file to open or close an image file. Or save an image file.

The tool bar are very simliar. Just open up notepad in windows. You'll see for yourself. Clicking on file will open a drop down menu. Clicking on edit or view will also pop out a drop down menu. If you can use programs like these then you can use photoshop if you just ignore most of the stuff you see.

Just ignore most of the stuff you see in Photoshop. Until you feel confident using layers. Like I just taught you.
